FFWPU Luxembourg: On July 5, Luxembourg held a Peace Road event under the theme, “European Unity”. Thirteen people took part in the tour though temperatures reached 39°C. For their Peace Road in Luxembourg they visited a number of meaningful places.
The event launched at the birthplace of Robert Schuman, an architect of European integration. Schuman (1886–1963) was a French politician who is widely regarded as one of the founding fathers of the European Union.
Another meaningful places we visited during our Peace Road tour was the American cemetery, where 5,500 soldiers that died in World War II are interred, as well as Schengen, a small village in Luxembourg, where the Schengen Agreement was signed, which led to the creation of Europe’s borderless Schengen Area.
Near the end, we arrived at the Abbey of Echternach, founded by Saint Willibrord in the 7th century. For the Peace Road tour, we drove 120km by car. To conclude the tour and for victory celebration, we visited the Holy Ground established in Luxembourg by Reverend Moon on August 9, 1965.
