More than 100 members of the Elizabeth Family Church celebrated Father’s Day, June 21, not in their church building but at Warinanco Park in Roselle, New Jersey. Pastor Darryl Franklin and the ministry team decided to hold a service and a barbecue party to celebrate Father’s Day there, providing families with the opportunity to bond and to have recreation while at the same time appreciating nature with the welcoming warmth of summer.
The service started with praise songs to set the atmosphere, followed by several testimonies to fathers, given by their wives and children. Most of the testimonies were very emotional and heartwarming, which made the audience teary-eyed. It was truly inspiring to see the members of a family appreciating what their dads have done for them.
An international lunch buffet was served with a Filipino barbecue courtesy of the Agulan family. A celebration cake was also served, which was swarmed over by not only the dads but the little ones as well.
After lunch families freely explored the park, enjoying its many amenities such as boat rides, children’s playground, and the new “spray ground.” Others played Frisbee and basketball, while the rest were dancing and singing with the band. Even neighboring picnickers joined the dance-a-thon with its inviting music.
It was truly a memorable day for the community, and some guests were delighted to have attended the celebration.
