By Elisabetta Nistri, WFWP Italy,
To celebrate the International Women’s Day, The President of the Italian Republic Mattarella had chosen the theme “WOMEN OF PEACE”. He had invited the ladies representing the major institutions of the political sphere, the media and the associations. Also, Elisabetta Nistri, the President of WFWP Italy had been invited to the Ceremony.
There were various speeches and some presentations pointing out how the women who participate in the peace treaties, manage to bring 25% better results to the conflicts. This is because the women search for a dialogue on common basis and for a resolution that brings benefit to both parties, meanwhile according to the men, peace can be attained when one side wins over the other. The female representatives of the Italian army who are committed in peace mission, had told as their experience that wherever they had been, they had seen that where women have an opportunity to study and to work, the society is prosperous, the children don’t suffer of hunger and children, too, can go to school. When women take responsibility of their work, they are generally more serious and responsible than men, both in paying back debts and in making the impossible to not to fail.
At the end of the convention there was offered a drink in the reception hall and Elisabetta Nistri has managed to contact some Government Ministers and the Mayor of Rome Mrs. Virginia Raggi, presenting to her the WFWP and its next project, the Convention of the 15th of March at the Parliament.
Elisabetta Nistri could manage to speak directly with the President of the Republic of Italy Mattarella, too. She presented to him the projects of WFWP and thanked him of choosing such an important theme “WOMEN OF PEACE” for this day. She presented to him the projects of IAPP (International Association of the Parliamentarians for Peace) and invited the President to participate, too. At the end Elisabetta offered the magazine “VOCI DI PACE” (“Voices of Peace”) to the President and he received it with pleasure.
